Cattermole, Paul Padfield,
Also attended - David Browning & Mark Padfield
AGENDA ITEM 1- The minutes from the meeting of 11th August 2004 where
approved and adopted. There were no matters arising.
ITEM 2 – Gary Cattermole showed the meeting the ‘draft’ website that had
been built by his son James. The site was approved with the following minor
amendments:
1) The official club badge is to be removed and replaced with the official
Arsenal Dover SC badge, when that arrives.
2) The home page will have a picture of the original Dover Gooners banner
and a short history of the club.
Mick Padfield advised the meeting that that Stuart Honey had agreed to
‘host’ the site for free. He also advised the meeting that Stuart had said
that we would have full access so that the site could be amended and he will
also arrange it so that our site would appear on Google etc. Stuart had also
advised that we purchase .com rather than .co.uk.
Mick also raised the subject of potentially selling advertising on the site,
half could then go towards any costs that the club may incur and the other
half could go James for building and maintaining the site. Gary Cattermole
thanked Mick, but told the meeting that he was opposed to James getting a
fee as he was using the site as part of his IT ‘A’ level course. It was
agreed that the idea of advertising could be looked into. (Following the
conclusion of the meeting Stuart arrived and viewed the site. He said that
he was now going to host the site on another server and that we would have
to pay a one off fee of £25. He said that he did not know if we would be
able to access the serve to carry out our own updates, we may have to put
them through him.)
ACTION POINTS: Tim Padfield to draft a short history of the Dover Gooners to
appear on the website and the official AFC extranet site.
Gary Cattermole to purchase dovergooners.com
ITEM 3 – Gary Cattermole reported that there were no problems with the
system that had been set up, although Mick or himself were having to chase
people up to see if they wanted tickets. It was felt that this would
probably improve once people realised how easy the system was. He reported
that at present we had 2 spare tickets for the Birmingham game and 4 for
Chelsea.
ITEM 4 – Mick reported that Bluebirds was booked for 5th December and that
he had paid a £250 deposit. He estimated that on current interest there may
be about 70 people attending our Christmas dinner. The cost of the 3 course
meal will be £11. It was agreed that 10th November would be the cut off
point for people to pay for their meals. Jill Smith has accepted an
invitation as has Stuart McFarlane, the official club photographer. Peter
Hill-Wood had been invited, but he will not be able to attend, however, he
has accepted the position of Honorary Life President of the Dover Gooners.
Ian Chivers has agreed to attend as an after dinner speaker. Mick will write
to Mr Hill-Wood to see if he will write a short note to be read out. Mick
was also happy to report that Andy Kovach and 9 other members of the
Austrian Gooners would also be attending the meal.
There will be a raffle at the meal with all profits going to ChildLine, the
official AFC charity. Mick has sent 39 letters to various local businesses
and box holders at AFC asking for prizes for the raffle.
ACTION POINT: Gary will e-mail a letter and menu, which Mick has drafted, to
all of the members.
ITEM 5 – Jill Smith has now sent through details of how we can obtain a 20%
discount on all items in the club catalogue. Unlike some Supporters Clubs,
it was agreed that the full benefit would be passed on to the members. Mick
has drafted a letter and order form. He will deal with this and has asked
that all forms be returned by 31st October.
ACTION POINT: Gary will e-mail the letter and order form to all of the
members.
ITEM 6 – Gary reported that we now have 72 members. 15 of these are silver
members and we are waiting to hear if another 2 want to join. We have
approximately 10 Family enclosure, Junior Gunners and Cannon Club members
and about 10 season ticket holders. Other known silver members have been
approached, but have declined to join. Gary is aware of a couple of Customs
Officers from Folkestone, who are silver members and he will approach them
to se if they want to join.
AOB – Mick has orders for 10 more red Dover Gooners t-shirts.
Gary and Mick will open an account with the Nationwide in the near future in
the name of the Dover Gooners.
Meeting closed at 2015. |
