22nd March 2007 Venue: Harbour Board Club, Dover. Present: Tim Padfield, Gary Cattermole, Mark Padfield, Mick Padfield, Bill Browning, Darren Herbert Apologies: Paul Padfield, John Wheeler AGENDA ITEM 1- Mick told the meeting that so far we had 36 people confirmed for the coach to the West Ham game. Gary also confirmed that there were 23 people interested in the Stadium tour on 8th August. He also informed the meeting that the tour included a tour of the museum. ITEM 2 – Mick told the meeting that as of today the account stood at £1549, with another £260 to go in. At present that only outstanding bill was the coach to West Ham, which will cost £380. He also proposed that as Andy Gibbons, one of the original members of the Dover Gooners, was now emigrating to Australia the club should buy him a small gift. It was decided that we should get him an engraved hip flask ITEM 3 – Gary told the meeting that at present we have about 290 members and that the members’ book was definitely closed until we see what the rates of renewal are next season. He told the meeting we currently have 44 silver members, 25 season ticket holders, 1 share holder, 46 red members and 24 JG or cannon club members. He also informed the committee that he had had to write to one of the members who was suspected of passing on tickets to non members, this member was not a silver member. He informed the meeting that he was satisfied with the members’ response and the matter was now closed. ITEM 4 – It was decided that this years Christmas dinner would be organised for the first clear Sunday in December or last Sunday in November. Mick told the committee that he had spoken to Sammy Nelson at the Carling Cup final and he was happy to attend as this year’s guest speaker. We have received a letter from the Willow Foundation thanking us for the £1500 we raised at last years dinner. Gary will approach Matt Rudd to see if he is willing to host an end of season BBQ this year. If he is then Gary will put out an e-mail to gauge if it would be worth while us running a coach to the event this year, as it was felt that last years event was not that well attended. ITEM 5 – an e-mail had been received from the club to se if we want to present a trophy for our player of the year. It was decided that we would not break with our tradition, i.e. not to ballot the members. ITEM 6 – It was decided to try to organise this year AGM for 19th June at the Centre Spot at Crabble again. Gary would draft an amendment to the rule so that we now introduce the system of members sending blank cheques at the start of each month to cover any tickets they wish to apply for . In light of the current health state of the clubs funds it was decided to keep membership fees at £5 for any member who does not hold any official membership with Arsenal and £15 for a family. ITEM 7 - The problem with our merchandise order, at Christmas, was discussed and the fact that one of our members had been told that we were barred from ordering items direct from the club, with a 20% discount, in future. Mick has been in contact with Katie Green and she has assured us that the member of staff had been wrong to say what he had said and that we were definitely not banned from submitting orders in the future. Meeting closed 2000
